How I lost 25 pounds in six months

I lost 25 pounds, not through any particular diet but through a combination of eating healthier foods, watching the amount of food that I ate at any one sitting, and also doing a form of calisthenics on a semi-regular basis.

In the spring of 2005 I realized that I had gotten completely out of shape and overweight and needed to make some changes in my lifestyle. I'm 6'2" tall and had gotten to almost 260 pounds, mostly from sitting in front of a computer all day as well as eating too much… or should I say, too much at each meal.

I found that the key to weight loss was just as much about making a lifestyle change as it was about watching what you are eating, or dieting. I had to completely rethink the way that I ate anything that I wanted regardless of the fact that at 51 years old my metabolism would no longer keep up with my eating habits.

While I believe that breakfast is the most important meal of the day what you eat for breakfast is just as important. Before I made the decision to change the way, and the things, that I ate, I used to eat things like Twinkies and doughnuts, or five Girl Scout cookies for breakfast.

Now, I have an 8 ounce glass of orange juice with a scoop of Ruby Reds when I first get up; Ruby Reds is a nutritious superfood that contains a large assortment of the nutrients and antioxidants that lead to healthy eating. About an hour later I have a Dannon™ cup of yogurt and “one” Girl Scout cookie for breakfast.

If you'd like to hear the specifics of the rest of the changes that I've made throughout my day concerning my eating habits and my lifestyle changes I'm putting those specifics into a small report called the Common Sense and Restraint Diet. In this report I'll also include the small exercise routine that I took up to help with my weight loss.

As of this writing in September of 2009 I am now down to 225 pounds and have continued to keep the weight off since I began my lifestyle change in the spring of 2005.
